Materials Needed
- • Paper or notebooks
- • Pens/pencils
- • Whiteboard or large chart paper
- • Markers
- • Selection of small objects representing ocean (fish toy, shell, rope, plastic, colorful rock, etc.)

See Goal 14 OverviewIntroduce Global Goal 14. Explain "Show, Don't Tell" writing technique using examples (dog happy vs. tail wagging, ocean polluted vs. plastic bag floating).

Build Vocabulary
Reveal objects one at a time (shell, fish toy, twisted plastic, fishing net, shiny rock). For each, students brainstorm descriptive sensory words. Create vocabulary list on board.

Rewrite Sentences
Students choose simple "telling" sentence (e.g., "The ocean was full of garbage") and rewrite using sensory details and brainstormed words to "show" the scene.

Share and Visualize
Students read rewritten sentences. Class closes eyes to visualize. Discuss what they saw in their minds and emotions felt.
